SOUL:AR are taking their space between Neo-Soul and Electro-Pop and are redecorating it to their own tastes. In the middle of a lot of cables you can find a crate full of rare grooves and shelves full of guitar effects. Somewhere in the corner you can faintly see a mirror ball blinking …
The sound of SOUL:AR is shaped by catchy melodies and the sound and groove of metropolis. Their experimental side keeps on giving you a lot of little surprises, but they never leave the dancefloor out of their sights. Projecting through the collective songwriting Eva Becker’s warm, and yet playful vocals beam her stories into the minds of all listeners.
SOUL:AR met in 2011 in Arnhem and released their first EP ‘What’s Real’ in 2013. After some quite turbulent years for the five musicians, they are returning to stages in Germany and the Netherlands in 2016. The sound you can hear on their first EP has evolved, and old influences are joined by fresh electronic music from artists such as Hiatus Kaiyote and NAO.
Seeing SOUL:AR live means being invited into their world and then blowing off the roof of any venue they are playing. The band is currently working on their second EP, to be released in 2018.
